Who is the real artist behind the main character, artist Jake Singer (Jason Behr) of Happily, Even After? From the first brush stroke in the opening credits, Greg Kalamar's influence is apparent. Kalamar played a major role in helping create the believability of the main character as young artist. Kalamar acted as the lead actor's painting coach, painted the works of art "created" by the main character in the movie, and lent an artistic hand for close up painting shots. The Tribeca Film Festival was created by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro in support of New York City and to enable people to experience the power of film by redefining the film festival experience. Happily, Even After is directed by Un Su Lee and produced by Hotbed. Greg Kalamar captures flight history at the Hiller Aviation Museum Gala San Carlos, CA. September 27, 2003. Greg Kalamar captured on canvas the black tie gala celebration, commemorating Hiller Aviation Institute and Museum's 5th Anniversary and the Centennial of Flight. Along with Mr. Stan Hiller, Jr., a pioneer in the field of helicopter flight, and Mr. Dick Rutan, Voyager pilot and keynote speaker, several local aviation dignitaries are depicted in this historic painting, among exhibits of the museum's amazing flying machines. Greg Kalamar's Burning Man Collection featured in exhibit at Sony Metreon in San Francisco San Francisco, CA. September 12-26, 2003. With paintbrush in hand, Greg Kalamar returned to the playa to capture on canvas the experience that is Burning Man. He created five powerful works of art, including four at Sol Systemand one at Lite Brite.Kalamar's artwork was featured in the Burning Man art exhibit at the Sony Metreon in connection with the premier of the documentary film, Confessions of a Burning Man. Confessions of a Burning Mandocumentary features time-lapse of Greg Kalamar San Jose, California. March 7, 2003. The new documentary Confessions of a Burning Man screened at a sneak premiere at Ciniquest, the San Jose Film Festival 2003. In the film, Greg Kalamar is featured in a dramatic time-lapse clip of him painting the David Best's Temple of Joy at sunset. Kalamar also participated in the pre-screening festivities by capturing the pre-party on a 48" by 30" canvas which was purchased that night by a guest at the party. Confessions of a Burning Man is a sumptuous celebration of Burning Man's art, music and remarkable sense of community. The Burning Man experience is shared through the eyes of four first-timers and lyrically interwoven with the profound philosophies of founder Larry Harvey. Also featured are Petaluma artist David Best and his Temple of Joy, an amazing multi-story work which pushes the edge of public arts projects. Greg Kalamar creates art for A Lie of the Mind at ACT Theatre Seattle, Washington. February 12, 2003. Rebound One Productions commissioned Greg Kalamar to create a painting representing the themes of its February production of A Lie of the Mind a play by Sam Shepard, running through the end of the month at the ACT Theatre. The canvas Kalamar created depicts a supine figure lying on a large flat surface, underneath a beautiful swirling starry night sky with ominous flames on the horizon. The artwork is being used in all promotional materials for the production, including advertising, posters, program, and even as the cover art for the CD of the original score. Greg Kalamar paints New Year Eve Gala at the San Francisco, California. January 1, 2003. Greg Kalamar was a featured performer at the Hyatt Regency's "Dance 2002," one of San Francisco's largest New Years Eve parties. Over the course of four hours, Greg studied the central atrium the worlds largest atrium hotel lobby, and the heart of the party on a large, 72" by 48" canvas. Kalamar painted on stage with the news anchors from KRON4 TV who interviewed him and kept track of his progress throughout the night. KRON4 used the Hyatt as the centerpiece of their coverage of San Francisco's New Years Eve festivities. Over 2,000 guests celebrated the turning of the calendar at this huge party. Greg Kalamar is featured in feature film, Happily Even After San Francisco, California. November 10, 2002. Greg Kalamar recently completed work on a feature length motion picture — Happily Even After — to be released late 2003 or early 2004. The picture includes Greg's art (both canvases and sketches) and his influence. Greg acted as the lead actor's painting coach, and many of the pieces of art that the character creates in the film are actually Greg's work, including potentially some canvas close-ups of Greg painting a huge mural. The lead character in this romantic comedy is an artist who is still haunted by the tragic death of his parents and struggles in his relationship with his controlling sister. Through the romantic twists in the story, Jake Singer, played by Jason Behr(Roswell, The Shipping News, Dawson's Creek, Pleasantville) regains his sense of purpose and self-confidence partly through creating art. Impressions Last at First Sight New Chef's Table at Four Seasons Olympic Seattle, Washington. June 12, 1999. Four Seasons Olympic Hotel will now offer one of the most unique dining experiences in Seattle Gavin's Table. With the help of local artist, Greg Kalamar, Executive Chef Gavin Stephenson's once ordinary office has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Kalamar worked closely with Stephenson to create the setting for the colorful three-wall mural that hits all of the senses. "I wanted to give Greg (Kalamar) the same artistic freedom I have in creating my dishes," shares Stephenson. Incorporated into Kalamar's designs are impressionistic images of cooks on "the line" and familiar Seattle favorites nestled between the design of the hotel's 1924 lobby banister. Adding to the ambiance, walls have been knocked out and windows replaced so that Stephenson's kitchen is exposed in its true colors. The surrounding walls are painted to tell the story of what's hidden behind them the cooking. Gavin's Table allows guests to experience dining in a whole new art form. |
